Program Duration, Graduation and Vertical Transfer Opportunities
The standard duration of our program is two years (four semesters). Students who successfully complete all graduation requirements are awarded an associate degree and graduate with the professional title of “Technician” in the relevant technical field.
Our program implements the 3+1 Education Model. Under this model, students complete three semesters of theoretical and practical education at the University and one semester of Workplace-Based Vocational Training (İME) in cooperation with industry. Workplace-Based Vocational Training enables students to develop their professional knowledge, skills, and competencies in a real working environment, become familiar with industry practices and organizational processes, adapt to professional life, and gain valuable work experience before graduation. This approach is consistent with the Council of Higher Education's emphasis on practice-oriented education and stronger university-industry cooperation.
Graduates may continue their education in four-year undergraduate programs by taking the Vertical Transfer Examination (DGS) administered by ÖSYM (Measurement, Selection and Placement Center). The undergraduate programs available for vertical transfer are determined according to the graduate's associate degree field and are published annually by ÖSYM. The 2026-DGS Guide also lists the undergraduate programs available for each associate degree field in Table 2.
Placement in an undergraduate program through DGS does not, by itself, change a graduate's professional title. After successfully completing the academic requirements of the undergraduate program, students are awarded a bachelor's degree and, where applicable, the professional title associated with that degree program in accordance with the relevant regulations. For example, graduates who successfully complete an eligible engineering degree program may obtain the degree and professional title associated with the respective field of engineering. Course exemptions, credit transfers, and the semester from which a student continues the bachelor's degree program are determined by the relevant university in accordance with its academic regulations.
Through this educational structure, our students are supported both in entering professional life as practice-oriented and qualified technicians and in continuing their academic and professional development through undergraduate education via DGS.
